This past week and sick Casper (White Kitty)

As always, life is a fun and crazy-busy blur when you're a full-time working mom, but here's what I managed to do in the last week:

Play lots of UNO with the kids, especially Cyrus.  He gets really upset when he doesn't win, but it's a good way to learn that, sometimes, your mommy just beats the pants off you and you have to act right anyway.

Kai's foot is still broken.  We got it x-rayed last week and the doctor wants him to keep the boot on his foot another 3 weeks.  He thinks Kai's problem with breaking both 1st metatarsals stems from the way he walks and plans to refer him to a pediatric orthopedist for a second opinion.  It's mechanical vs nutritional, so that's at least something we couldn't have prevented, thankfully. 

The weather has been very cool in the mornings and evenings lately.  We're breaking out the fall clothes for the boys and I'm loving it.

What goes better with Fall than....FOOTBALL!??!  This Saturday, I took the boys tailgating with my friend from work and all her friends and their kids.  Most of them were boys and Cyrus and Kai had a good time playing with them.

I didn't actually go to the football game, but we did walk the others to the stadium to check it out.  The boys were really excited.

Afterwards, Susan, Anna, and I took our boys out for pizza.  This is why I hesitate to ever have another baby.  My kids are finally so transportable and flexible.  We didn't get home til almost 10 PM and they did great with it all.

Saturday, after work, Brendan brought by Melissa's dog for me to trim his nails.  He's being fostered by a woman in Athens, but Brendan occasionally picks him up for a fun afternoon of hiking.  Kai really loved him too.

On Sunday evening, Gabriel and I went on a walk to downtown Athens with the boys in the double stroller.  We're only about 1-1.5 miles away, so I'm not sure why we don't do it more....maybe due to the horrendous uphill climb we have to do there and back.

We went to Transmetropolitan and ate pizza and salad.  Kai wasn't daunted by his huge piece at all!

Monday, after work, I met the fam at Barnes and Noble for book-reading time and then went home to eat some veggie soup before bedtime.

This evening, I actually left work two hours early to take one of our clinic cats to UGA.  He became acutely sick with dilated pupils today and none of our tests could tell us what was wrong with him.  I got there at 5 PM and thought it would be a short visit.  I should have known better.  Everything there takes FOREVER!  Thankfully, Gabriel and the kids came and hung out with me in the lobby (with vegan sammies from the Daily Coop) and we could spend quality time there, albeit in a hospital lobby.  I got out of there shortly after 8 PM, in plenty enough time to bathe and put the kids to bed.

Here's Casper, aka White Kitty, that is spending the night at UGA.  Poor little baby.  He's our rescue cat who's been completely normal until today.  See how normal and small his pupils are in this picture of him (from last week)?  His eyes looked almost completely black this morning!  It was crazy.  All our bloodwork and other tests were pretty unremarkable, so I drove him to the specialists tonight.  Hope they can figure out what's wrong with him.

 This was earlier today at work.  Our newest rescue kitten, Loudmouth, is getting big and very energetic.  Dr Amy's great big lab, Boomer, doesn't seem to mind at all that his rump is being used as a perch for Loudmouth.  I love all the animals in my office!

Amy and Tuan's wedding + visit to Rock Hill

Yes, my dear life-long friend, Amy Vu has finally tied the knot.  I'm so glad she waited for the right guy, because Tuan is so perfect for her.  They are so happy, doing great in Atlanta, and just bought a huge, beautiful house there in preparation for their future family.  Her wedding was in Rock Hill on September 15 and my whole family (sans Anahita who couldn't make it from San Fran this weekend) was there.  It was a very big, Catholic, Vietnamese/American wedding, so it was a one of a kind experience.  So glad I was able to make it.

On Saturday, before the wedding, we got to meet Ethan, Clayton's new baby.  He's precious.

Waking Kai up from his nap to put him in church clothes and go to a wedding wasn't the most pleasing experience for this little boy.  Thank goodness it was Kai, though, because a two-year old Cyrus in the same situation would've been completely unmanageable.  (Recognize this precious outfit from Saskia's wedding 2 years ago?)

We arrived at the reception for drinks, snacks, and (eventually) an eight-course Chinese dinner.

The wait for the dinner was a decent chunk of time, so the kids busied themselves on our iPhones and eating cheese and crackers.

You didn't think I'd leave out the food, did you?  Course one: a "ham" and cucumber salad.

Course two: Soup (with seaweed), I think.

Course three: Fried spring rolls

Course four: Fake lobster balls with steamed veggies and a bowl made of fried noodles.

Course five: Sauteed mushrooms and greens.

Course six: Seitan and vegetables in brown sauce.

Course seven: Another dish of sauteed veggies (I was getting REALLY full at this point) with some soy meat.

Course 8: This was weird....seaweed or something?  I just ate the greens.

The meat eaters got a lot of lobster and seafood.

My cute parents were like second parents to Amy growing up.  It was so nice they could see her get married.

It was a great weekend, but alas it had to end.  This was what I came home to last night after work.

Poor Gabriel has hurt his back, so he had the kids lying down with him, watching A Bug's Life.  (I love little Satin making the most of the floor bed).
